EXPERTISE.

DIFFERENT DISCIPLINES. ONE CONSIDERED APPROACH.

WRDhaus works across design, engineering, construction and technology, bringing the disciplines required to understand a building and realise it as a complete environment.

Rather than separating design from construction or technology from architecture, each element is developed in relation to the whole — allowing decisions to be resolved earlier, details to remain consistent and the original idea to survive through to completion.

DESIGN.

Architecture begins with understanding what is already there.

WRDhaus develops spaces around the building, its surroundings and the people who will ultimately use it. Layout, proportion, materials, light, structure and technology are considered together from the outset.

For existing and historic buildings, the approach is rarely to erase and begin again. The challenge is identifying what gives a building its character, what needs to change and how new interventions can sit confidently alongside what came before.

ENGINEERING.

Complex buildings rarely offer standard solutions.

WRDhaus works through structural, spatial and technical constraints as part of the design process — modelling, testing and developing bespoke solutions where conventional approaches do not fit.

From structural alterations to individually fabricated components, engineering becomes another part of the architecture rather than something resolved after it.

BUILD.

The quality of an idea ultimately depends on how it is made.

WRDhaus works with skilled craftspeople and specialist trades to carry the design through construction, with particular attention given to materials, junctions, existing fabric and the details that can easily become diluted between drawing and site.

Traditional materials and contemporary construction methods are used where each makes sense — not to recreate the past, but to allow old and new to work together honestly.

INTELLIGENT BUILDINGS.

Technology is treated as part of the architecture, not equipment added to it afterwards.

Lighting, heating, climate, energy, access, security and other building systems are designed around how people naturally move through and use a space.

Automation allows the building to respond intelligently in the background while the controls presented to the user remain deliberately simple.

CONNECTED SYSTEMS.

The intelligence of a building increasingly extends beyond its physical controls.

WRDhaus develops bespoke software, interfaces and integrations that connect buildings with the people and organisations using them. Physical building systems can communicate with operational platforms, reservations, access control and other digital services rather than operating independently.

The objective is not more technology. It is fewer unnecessary interactions.

DELIVERY.

WRDhaus can remain involved from the first idea through to the final installation.

Designers, engineers, craftspeople, specialist installers and developers work as part of the same process, reducing the gaps that traditionally exist between disciplines.

That continuity allows the details conceived during design to remain intact through engineering, fabrication, construction, commissioning and ultimately the way the finished building operates.
